Quite Possibly The Best Video Game CGI Ever
Last weekend, millions of people around the world tuned into Blizzcon to bring them new game info, release dates, and major updates on all things Blizzard. One of the highlighted pieces from Saturday was this cinematic trailer for next year’s “Diabl0 III,” which, like the rest of Blizzard’s games, has been in the work for what seems like eternity. In it, Leah, Deckard Cain’s adopted daughter and assistant, is the trailer’s focus alongside a Jabba the Hut-esque demon, who helps provide a little more of the game’s storyline.
But let’s move on to the elephant in the room, and the reason why all of Hollywood is currently in a state of shock over this. I’m of course referring to the computer-generated imagery (CGI). Since the beginning of time, video game cinematic trailers have awed us with CGI images that in no way, shape, or form represent the game’s actual footage. Initially, this may seem like a bad thing, a “bait-and-switch” maneuver, if you will. But the truth is, the gaming industry couldn’t care less how far-fetched or unrealistic these sequences are, because seeing is believing. And as seen here, CGI this good should be a crime. For these reasons, this trailer alone will re-spark the faith in “Diablo III,” which has recently been in question due to years of prolonged development. Three minutes and twenty-four seconds of cinematic ecstasy will bring back a revolution in gaming that is DIABLO.

AMAZING! Period.
