Some images are burned into our memories with no chance of ever getting rid of. Most of these images are unforgettable because of their horrible or disgusting nature, like walking in on your parents or witnessing the birth of a younger sibling. However, there are some memories that are stuck with us because they affected us on a deeper, more emotional level. This “Resistance: Fall of Man” box art falls into that category.

Sure we have seen plenty of shots of barren battlefields, war torn soldiers, and bombed out towns, but never have we seen this; a replica WWII helmet containing a non-human, four-eyed, “Chimera” skull. We’ve lived our whole lives knowing exactly what a human head looks like and most of us could do a pretty good job of drawing a human skull solely from memory. But throw on an extra set of eyes and some gnarly teeth, and you have produced something that shatters this paradigm thousands of years in the making. By positioning this mind-numbing image front and center, good luck noticing anything else on this cover, which might as well be blank.
